Youth Engagement Projects

The Soapbox Foundation proudly supports Captain Fanplastic, an award-winning educational programme that tackles plastic pollution through storytelling and experiential learning, with a strong focus on South African primary schools. Designed to engage children from underresourced communities, the programme uses imaginative narratives and hands-on activities to teach the importance of environmental stewardship, recycling, and reducing plastic waste. By turning learning into an adventure, Captain Fanplastic empowers young learners to take pride in their role as protectors of their environment and agents of change in their own communities.

Our second youth-focused initiative, The SDG Challenge, brings the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to life for South African university students, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through project-based learning and real-world problem-solving, students explore critical issues like climate change, poverty, and inequality — and are encouraged to develop practical solutions relevant to South Africa Business. By building leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking skills, The SDG Challenge helps young people become confident, informed changemakers with the tools to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
